Parker Health x Corsano Health Partnership
July 14th , 2022- Menlo Park, CA - Parker Health an innovative biotechnology company, announces its partnership with Corsano Health to provide insight in addressing social determinate of health(SDOH) matters in improving health and reducing health disparities state-of-the-art biomedical technology in minority communities across the United States.
The abstract will focus on the effectiveness of wearable devices and EHR’s on chronic care patients and patient outcomes in minority communities. Dr. Willem Gielen, a well-known cardiologist, will lead the international research team. Histeam will be using the Cardiowatch 287 wearable wristlet to capture biometric data, which live stream into America’s first and only full-stack Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources(FHIR) compliant electronic health record(EHR/EMR) the Parker SuiteÔ utilizing the Vinny A.I. + Dx tools to analyze, predict, diagnosis, and track patient outcomes.
For the first-time in healthcare, the study will demonstrate the importance and effectiveness of historical patient record, biometric baselines, and patient engagement. Each research participant will complete a full physical, historical patient record review, and baseline biometrics analysis.
“This is very exciting opportunity to showcase the Parker Suite’s relevance and effectiveness in clinical research, as we continue to focus our efforts on marginalized and underserved communities. As a Mexican American founder and leader in the US healthcare industry, the time is now to speak out and address the healthcare disparities in minority health.” said Vincent Lopez, Founder/CEO, Parker Health.
Historical research and publications in the US have highlighted the significant healthcare disparities and within minority communities including accessibility, affordability, patient outcomes and higher mortality rates. In 2020, Donald Alcendor, PhD, Adjunct Associate Professor at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine, Racial disparities-associated with COVID-19 Mortality among Minority Populations in the US.
“Longstanding health disparities such as diabetes, hypertension, CVD, and pulmonary disease among minority populations in the US may serve to predispose these communities to SARS-CoV-2 infection and increased risk for clinically severe COVID-19. The underlying social determinants of health and standards of care in minority communities must be improved to end these disparities. Improvements will require changes in governmental policy and a long-term commitment to minority communities that includes early interventions and prevention strategies to reduce or eliminate major healthy disparities on the way to achieving health equity."
Dr. Alcendor’s conclusion sums up the issues that health disparities have on our minority communities no matter the health emergency, illness, or disease. Until we’re actively working to improve these disparities this will remain an issue, and or get worse.
“We are proud to partner with Parker Health to research the effectiveness of Cardiowatch 287 for multiple Chronic Care Pathways in connection with advanced electronic health records. The MDR Medical Certified Cardiowatch 287 patient bracelet monitors 8 Vital Parameters with clinical accuracy. The combined Parker - Corsano solution addresses healthcare disparities in minority health by offering effective and low-cost remote patient monitoring”, said Drs. Peter C. Stas, CEO of Corsano Health.
The research project is set to kick off in August 2022, several participants, locations, and additional partners have been identified across the United States; research timelines, funding, and additional information will be shared in the coming weeks.
